My father, singing along loudly to a song in the car after breakfast:

“You’re a bitch, baby!” Beat. “Oh, he’s saying ‘You’re a fake, baby.’ Well I’m updating the lyrics. I’m making it current for today. ‘You’re a bitch, baby!’ You hear that Minnesota beat in the background? This is some good stuff!”

Five minutes later.

“Yyyyeeeaaahhh!” He claps his hands, yells out again, and starts funk dancing in his seat. “This is how I danced with all the ladies!”

It’s good to be home.

Based in San Diego? Want to volunteer for the AP Tour?

Looking for two volunteers for the San Diego stop of the Alternative Press Tour featuring Four Year Strong, The Gallows, Title Fight, The Swellers, and Sharks on November 6th at SOMA.

Volunteers will be responsible for gathering membership subscriptions before doors, hanging posters, assisting with a band signing, and holding it down with our team at the booth during the show in the true AltPress style.

You will have an opportunity to check out some of the bands, but much of your time will be spent at the booth.

If you are interested in volunteering with us THIS SUNDAY: Please leave your contact information in my ASK BOX (you do not have to be a registered Tumblr user to do this), along with your name, age, email address, and why you’re interested in volunteering with AP! (I will respond to selected volunteers through email, so please make sure you include how to reach you!)

Eighteen hours in San Diego isn’t enough, but it wouldn’t have felt right leaving without it. Spent the afternoon with my Dad walking around and testing out his new Nikon DSLR. Ended up at a sports bar watching the games and bantering back and forth about who was making it to the playoffs.

We just had an earthquake. I grabbed my big screen as a few things fell off the kitchen table. You better believe it, I am gonna protect my tv… and it’s not even football season.

Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.

Carl Sagan (via emilyposts)

Auto reblog because this reminds me of the first time I ever played Apples to Apples.  Lived in San Diego and one night I was with a couple of the guys I worked with at a local venue and their friends.  They pulled out this game and there was one card that won every round it was played in, regardless of the description word card: Carl Sagan. Good dudes, good memories.
