Don’t mind me, just playing the same teaser and feeling bummed, again, like I’ve done four or five times since discovering David W. Ross’s IndieGoGo campaign for “I Do” this weekend.

Seriously. Him standing in front of the window, alone. The hospital. Heart. Clenched.

Hoping he submits to NFMLA, or screens somewhere in LA. I need to see this.

If you’re in Los Angeles this Monday, April 16th, stop by the NewFilmmakers LA event at Sunset/Gower Studios and witness ambidextrous, live-painter Angelina D’Arcy create a collection of paintings inspired by the films screening.
Each painting Angelina creates during the event will also be available for purchase via silent auction. A portion of the proceeds will benefit NewFilmmakers LA. You get to support a wonderful artist, while also supporting a non-profit organization screening great films by some of the most promising, emerging filmmakers around.
Check out Angelina’s website for more of her work at http://www.angelinafineart.com.

Several trailers of short films being shown during our January screening at New Filmmakers LA are now available to watch on the NFMLA website. This one, the animated Being Bradford Dillman, is my personal favorite.

Hope to see you all January 16th at Sunset/Gower Studios!

One of my favorite parts of working with New Filmmakers LA is getting a chance to see all of the shorts, documentaries, and features that they show in their programs. After viewing all of the films for December, I’m going to start recommending a couple that need to be checked out and requested in your area as soon as possible.

BROTHERLY LOVE was the stand out of the short film program. Directed by Choice Skinner, the film is about three brothers (Skinner, Farley Jackson, and Sheldon Smith) who “are confronted with a horrible act committed by the youngest due to the pressure of bullying from a local gang”. Selling people out here: but I heard sniffling from the sold-out crowd. More than my own, for the record.

I also had the chance to talk with Choice before and after his screening, and that man has so many projects in various stages of production, along with teaching acting classes, I don’t know how he was even able to step away to attend the screening. If Brotherly Love is an example of what he can do though, then I can’t wait to see what he has coming next.
